Purpose of Establishment of the Corruption Investigation Office For High-ranking Officials
The Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials was established to enhance integrity and trust in the korean government and its bureauckacy by eradicating specific types of corruptive crimes by high-ranking officials or their family members, such as abuse of authority, bribery, preparation of false public documents and illegal giving and receiving of political funds, so that Korean continues to prosper as a just and fair country that provides equal opportunities for all citizens without special privileges and corruption in public offices.
